Count Your Blessings
It's been over five years since I suffered my TBI. During an early follow-up with my neurosurgeon, I was told I was fortunate to be in a functional state, and that many others that suffered a similar injury are not as lucky. "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS," the doctor said. And I've learned to do that each and every day, but only after accepting the 'new' me. Not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for being able to wake up, breathe, walk, and spend time with friends, family, and passions. I have to remind myself on my worst of days, to count my blessings. In order to appreciate life, you sometimes have to change your perspective. Remember, the person six feet under would gladly switch places. TBI changes your life, and in my case, it made me focus on family, relationships and health. Life is short and you'll never know when your time is up, so please COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS. -Learn and Love
